The Authority responds to the
initiatives of the Minister of Transport and promotes
the efficient usage of the Authority's facilities,equipment
and expertise to provide safe navigation. This includes
the provision of pilotage services, within a commercially
oriented framework, directed toward achieving and
maintaining financial self-sufficiency and long
term viability. In addition, it includes being responsive
to the Government's environmental, social and economic
policies.

The objects of the Authority are to establish, operate, maintain and administer, in the interest of safety, an efficient pilotage service within the region set out in respect of the authority. The objects are to be obtained by establishing a fair and reasonable tariff.
The Authority will accomplish this mandated by providing the necessary expertise and experience, associated with the appropriate technology, to meet the needs of the industry. The Authority is committed to maximizing the use of its resources/assets to meet the goals in a safe and environmentally responsible manner.
To continue to provide an effective pilotage service throughout the Atlantic Region. In doing so, the Authority would maximize opportunities and benefit the various ports/districts and surrounding communities.
